Gen Art Film Festival:  April 2 - 8

Believe it or not, it's not too often that I actually get up to the city these days.  Business has been booming and with all of the work, there's little time for play.  However, I was able to take time out of my hectic schedule to attend a movie premier at this year's prestigious Gen Art film festival.  The film, Assisted Living, was delightfully surprising.  I rarely take time to enjoy independent films because quite honestly I've never been too impressed by them.  After attending Gen Art I quickly realized the rock I had been living under!  I received VIP treatment at the event and was able to mingle and network with some very interesting industry "folks" at the after-party at ARSHILE.  Turns out, that the filmmaker, Elliot Greenbaum, is from Kentucky, my old stomping grounds!  The film, Best Feature winner at Slamdance, was shot on location outside of Louisville.  A special shout-out to Mandy Goldberg who volunteered at this year's festival and was nice enough to invite me along!
